Go Ahead and Be Sad

I’m not here to tell you to stay positive.

I’m not here to tell you to suck it up.

I’m here to tell you to go ahead and be sad.

Your emotions are valid and I am going to value it because I know not all people have the same emotional range. If it hurts you, then it hurts you. I don’t care if you silently cry or ugly cry because I will let you. If you need some space, I will gladly give you space.

I understand you because I am you.

I used to be you.

I won’t tell you brighter days are coming because as of the moment, you are hurting. The kind of positivity that I will give you is something that will not disregard your emotions but rather acknowledge it. But I also need you to try to help yourself. I know you are hurting mentally but don’t compromise your physical health. I have a life and won’t always be there for you. That is the sad truth but know that I will do my very best to mend your hurt and help you pick yourself up.

I don’t want to promise you anything because like you, I am also human and I feel hurt. I will have bad days and won’t be at my best. When that time comes, I will not force you to be there for me nor will I force you to symphatize. I helped you on my own accord so if you help me on your own, I will truly be grateful.

So go ahead and be sad. Cry if you want to.

I will be here.
